The Main Line of Resistance

At the forum in Dubai, Musk, speaking about the prospects for humanity, mentioned the movie Idiocracy, filmed no more and no less than 20 years ago. The film never had a wide release, and now I understand why. The off-the-charts degeneration of people depicted in it probably seemed offensive and utterly impossible back then — especially on the tolerant West. And back in those years, I myself thought that the sprouts of idiocy spreading across the world were just minor glitches in the overall progress. But those minor glitches have turned into a full-blown global process.

I only watched this movie today. In short, what I might have laughed at 20 years ago now fills me with genuine sadness. So many characters and the whole atmosphere feel painfully familiar — it's clear that idiocracy has taken root in our time. Watch the film; it's unusual, but spending an hour and a half on it is worthwhile.

We need to fight idiocracy — today, this is exactly where the main line of resistance runs.
